Guide This drawing is part of my performance "Shades of Ireland", performed in Helsinki, Muu Gallery, Sept. 3, 2001 as part of the "La-Bas 10" happening. It is based on my experiences working as a tour guide of Finnish groups travelling around in Ireland in Summer 2001. The performance played with three very different-styled information and the idea to tell foreign people about Ireland: 1. Mystical Ireland; 2. Facts of Ireland and Northern Ireland; 3. My personal experiences of Northern Ireland. I work with performance art and mixed media. My works are usually built up as a series capturing pieces of the theme. Everyday life, atmosphere, and the activities in the place find its way into the process and final stage of my art. Elina Hartzell Belfast |
