Paul Ardenne is an Assistant Master in History and has a Ph.D. in History of Art. He teaches contemporary art history at Université Picardie Jules-Verne in Amiens/F. Member of the AICA France. Since 1990, he collaborates in the review Art Press and, since its foundation in 1999, in the review Parpaings. Writes also for Beaux-arts magazine, L'OEil, Omnibus, Le Voyeur, La Recherche photographique, Figures de l'art, L'image, Visuels ( still Synesthésie) and for international art magazines.

Besides a great number of articles and artists' catalogues, Paul Ardenne published works on museology ("Capc-Musée 1973-1993", Regard ed.; "Guide Europe des musées d'art moderne et contemporain", with Ami Barak, Art Press ed.); on contemporary artistic creation ("Opus", Figuier ed.; "La création contemporaine entre structures et système", ERBA Rouen; "Analyser l'art vivant, s'il se peut", EAD Strasbourg) and on contemporary culture ("1989", Regard ed.).

Recent important publications are: "Art, l'âge contemporain" (Regard ed., 1997) - a history of sculpture at the end of the XXth century; "L'Art dans son moment politique" (La Lettre volée ed., 2001); "L'Image Corps" (Regard ed., 2001) - a study on the human shape in XXth century's art; "Un Art contextuel - Création artistique en milieu urbain, en situation, d'intervention, de participation" (Flammarion ed., 2002) - an essay on modern and contemporary artistic ways of political and radical intervention.

Paul Ardenne was co-commissaire of the exhibitions "Micropolitiques" (Grenoble, 2000) and "Expérimenter le réel" (Albi-Montpellier, 2001 & 2002).
