Marta Kuzma is an independent curator and critic based in London. Formerly, the Director of The Washington Project for the Arts/Corcoran (WPA/C), an off-sites contemporary arts program, Kuzma founded and directed the Soros Center for Contemporary Art Gallery in Kyiv from 1994 through 1999. Among exhibitions curated had been "Boris Mikhailov: A Retrospective" (1996); the Livadia Project in Yalta (1998) and "Alchemic Surrender aboard a nuclear battleship" in Sevastopol, Crimea (1994). She also directed the international exhibitions program at the International Center of Photography, NY, under Cornell Capa, and is working on a book "Transgressing Boundaries: Contemporary Art from Ukraine in the 90s". Ms. Kuzma is presently pursuing a project, "The Mutable Monument", referring to the notion of defensible space.
