Claudia Jolles stresses the ephemeral character of "visions of the future" which always are easily recognisable as products of their time. She pleads, instead, for a careful exploration of one's own conditions of existence. She hopes that this, in future as well, will go beyond a narcistic self-reflection of man; life for life's sake will not, hopefully, be superseded by selfish human interest.
