Emma Lilly's work uses games to explore ideas of purpose and futility, inertia and distraction and an anxiety about the passing of time. Instead of using the game's internal logic, she uses games, from jigsaw puzzles to mobile phone and computer games, as a starting point from which to follow redundant tangents and construct laborious, dumb images or objects for contemplation which suggest distraction but don't deliver.
