My recent work reflects the interest I have in the inherent decay of systems. All systems have a built-in self-destructive quality, which assures their eventual disintegration. The chaos in every ordered construction is essential for universal recycling of matter. This even extends to the conceptual world of ideas and social constructs, such as social hierarchies or rituals. This constant process of Disintegration from integrated forms provides the context for giving meaning to existence. I use video, which I have manipulated in several graphic and audio applications, to explore the ephemeral nature of matter, life and meaning. Nick Ullo New York |
