Ina Blom is an associate professor at the Department of Art History, University of Oslo, where she received her Ph.D. ("The Cut Through Time. A Version of the Dada / Neo-Dada Repetition", UIO, 1999). Her field of interest has been modernism/avant-garde studies and contemporary art, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary practices. A former music critic, she has worked extensively as an art critic and curator since 1988.
She has been a senior curator at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Oslo (2000) and the curator of the Fluxus/Intermedia Archive at the Henie Onstad Art Center in Oslo (1988-93).
Her most recent publications include "Beyond the Ambient" (on Olafur Eliasson) in Parkett 64, 2002; "The Touch Through Time. Raoul Hausmann, Nam June Paik and the Transmission Technologies of the Avantgarde", in Leonardo Journal of Art and Technology, no. 3, MIT Press, 2001; "Joseph Beuys. An Essay", Oslo: Gyldendal, 2001. Forthcoming (2003) is a book and an exhibition on the "postal" factor in the work of mail artist Ray Johnson.
