Suzan Shutan combines drawing, sculpture, photography and video in storefront windows, elevators, hallways, doorways and spaces which the viewer can enter and be part of the work. Her installations read like reveries on the choices we make in life.

Shutan received her B.F.A. from California Institute of the Arts and her M.F.A. from Rutgers University, New Jersey. Her work has been exhibited at The Rogue Art Gallery in Victoria, Canada; The University of Freiburg in Germany; Centro Colombo Americano in Bogota & Medellin, Columbia; The Alternative Museum, NYC and The Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

She has received grants (Art Matters Foundation, NYC; Connecticut Commission on the Arts), has been awarded artist residencies (Yaddo, Bemis Foundation), has been reviewed in publications ("The New York Times", "High Performance Magazine") and has had her work published in catalogues and books ("Women Sculptors of the 90's").
