HOGAR-DOM-HOME
Multimedia Solo-Exhibition Project
Collage-Installation-Art Object-Video-Photography
Spring 1996, during my stay at Headlands Center for the Arts, Saulsalito, Ca.
Far away from home and living in a temporary residency, I made the first generation of my Home project. It consisted of a few collages about the idea of home, feelings of homesickness and the idealization of "home". With time, the collection grew, recycling, enriched by the addition of different media, photographs that I took on trips, working on pieces based on my own personal experience: my transcultural marriage with the Croatian artist Neli Ruzic (my neighbour at the Headlands), creating a family, pregnancy and kids.
That's why the name of HOGAR-DOM-HOME is in the three languages that join our lives.
Several pieces are objects made from toys, recovering the spirit of childhood, the return to innocence and the joy of everyday life.
