Finished his studies at the University of the Philippines with a B. A. degree in Humanities (1990), M. A. in Art History (1995), and a Ph. D. degree in Philippine Studies (2000).
Delivered and contributed papers, lectures and essays to local and international conferences, workshops and publications. Served as a curator for local and international exhibitions. Writes in English and Filipino. Works have been translated in several languages.
