BIOBIBLIOGRAPHY
Born 1964 in Lagos, Nigeria, Iké Udé is an artist, aesthete, writer and publisher of the seminal aRUDE international magazine, New York. In his media and fashion based art, he uses photography/video to explore issues and uses of cultural representation and perceptions. His current body of work, Beyond Decorum, uses fashion, sexual text, photography - namely shirts and shoes - to disclose universal human desire, in effect betraying our decorous patina hypocritically employed to hide or deny these unrelenting natural needs.
Udé is working on his first feature film, The Exquisites, and on Je te Veux, an experimental Dance/Multimedia film, as well as on other art and book projects. He has participated in various international solo and group exhibitions. Since 1981, Iké Udé lives and works in New York.
