Pi Li, born in Febr 1974 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.
Graduated, in 2001, from the Art History Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, with a M.F.A. degree. His focus was on art theory, especially Chinese art and art criticism since 1949. He is working as an assistant researcher in the Research Department of the academy. Pi Li writes about and curates contemporary art exhibitions such as Water and Lovely in Beijing. In 2000, he was also web director of the website Art Union. From 1997 to 1999, Pi Li worked and studied in the UK, then lectured in China on Chinese and Western art history and art marketing. He publishes in Asian art periodicals. 1998-2000, assistant to the director of the Chinese Contemporary Art Award, founded by the Swiss ambassador in China. He is one of the curators of the Under Construction Art Project. It will show Asian contemporary art in Asian cities such as Seoul and Tokyo, 2001-2002.
